About my guest
Marilupe De La Calle is Mexican mom living in the US with my husband and my two amazing girls. She is a certified Hand in Hand Parenting instructor. She is also a friend.
Here is Marilupe’s beautiful poem:
In a million and one ways, I was told to deny.
To comply.
To conform.
To please.
To bend, to concede, to allow.
To shush.
To not grow.
That was the nature of my un-nurturing world.
And I did.
Splendidly!
Just as expected.
I mastered the art of false belonging.
Here and there, I wore the perfect mask. A chameleon, of sorts,
Cleverly honing the craft of disguise, ’til I almost fooled myself, too.
A rule follower, breathing falseness in the air.
Desperate for love.
Accompanied by loneliness…
Eternally afraid, to look inside.
For there, in the depths of my heart, I’ve always known,
There was fear
And grief
And rage
And hunger
And rawness
Tears.
Screams.
And peace.
And wisdom.
And greatness.
They were all part of my nature, and I was afraid, of them all.
As I gather the courage to unravel, Unpeel Unfurl
And reveal…
As I blow the dust from the surface of that tender heart,
Beams of light come through Sparks of light shoot out Both, in nature, equally divine
