What NOT to say to our kids seems like a simple idea but when it comes to real time interactions, we sometimes are not sure what to say. We could end up saying the “wrong” thing unintentionally. Also, it could be hard to say “no” to our kids without actually using the word “no”. Have you tried it?
We don’t want to fill our children’s days with negative words and statements, such as “Stop!”, “You can’t do it”, “Don’t touch!”.
And you know young kids, they just pick up what we say and imitate. 🙂
On today’s episode my co-host Laura and I answer 3 listener questions about creating boundaries with your toddler without getting angry, or constantly saying no, when to intervene when sibling fight or what NOT to say to our kids? As well, as when to offer empathy to a dysregulated child and is it OK to give space when kids ask to be left alone.
- Let the environment set the boundaries
