Why It’s OK NOT to Love Your Step Children

Today’s episode features guest Melissa Brown, talking about step parenting. You can find more of her over at Blended Family Podcast 😊

Melissa speaks about the challenge of the ex relationship, integrating biological children with step children, and bumps that arise in this complex dynamic.

-Jealousy between children, and making everyone feel equal in terms of love
-Step Parent role and the emotional baggage both you and the child bring to the relationship
-Guilt and shame with difficulty navigating the growth of the love between parental role and child
-Balancing act of explaining differences to your partner
-Age of the child you are trying to create a bond with
-Creating positive dialogue between adults and communication
-Keeping in mind you can only control your side of the dynamic and NOT retaliate in negative bashing
-Finding balance in decisions and words you use

Melissa also share some real life scenarios that may show up!

If you are a step parent, or a single parent dating, this episode would be great for you! ❤️ Listen in and tell us your thoughts and personal experience!

About my guest

Melissa Brown is a mother of four, with two biological children, and two bonus children.  One big blended family who loves, fights, cries, and shares together. The truth is, it has not been an easy road trying to mix two families together.  It takes a lot of patience, love, and work.

Melissa wants to help your blended family create the life at home that you have always dreamed of, and to learn how to find joy in the process. She wants you to celebrate the small victories, and move past the large challenges.
