Today’s episode, Building Trust with Kids, is about just that, TRUST! It’s what we ALL want, right!?! For our kids to bring us their thoughts, problems and troubles. To be that safe space, the one we wish we had.
Episode guest Casey O’Roarty of Joyful Courage, is sharing her vulnerability with us today! She also has just released a book, Joyful Courage: Calming the Drama and Taking Control of YOUR Parenting Journey, available on both her website and Amazon 😊 Casey is a Mom of two, a 13 year old and 16 year old DRIVER! As a Mom of teens Casey knows a ton about instilling trust in her family ❤️
-VALUE in acknowledging the differences between yourself and your children. Lean in to those strengths that differences bring
-Trusting her parenting path and intuition, even when her children hit some bumpy roads
-How her own experience as a child with a “punishment parenting” model led to a sneaky relationship
-Kids are GOING to make mistakes, it WILL happen. If we can remain curious, they can find acceptance and space for awareness
-Everyone is going to have a different bottom line, and child, and it’s difficult to say a one size fits all. What’s your values? Know your child, trust your gut if something is NOT right
-Keep the door open, without judgement (Casey shares her own story about nicotine)
-Have those hard talks! Sex, porn, weed, and screen time. Create a safety of bringing ANYTHING to the table
-She also shares her CORE value of wanting her children to have love, connection and knowing that they matter….. know that THEY design their own lives and influence their own experience
Casey shares her heart and some amazing foresight to not sweat the small stuff. Envision your children as healthy and loving adults. Find peace in the discomfort and forgiveness along the journey.
