The Healing Power of Storytelling

We all have a story. Your life story defines who you are.

And only you can tell your own story.

By sharing it you not only release painful feelings, make sense of what happened to you, gain a new perspective, form a new meaning, but you access a possibility of transforming your life.

Whether you share your story orally or in a written form, it has healing power.

Do you have an untold story inside that is itching to be shared?

What’s holding you back from telling it?

Are you afraid to be vulnerable, seen weak or incompetent? Or do you think your story is not worthy, or compelling or interesting enough?

When painful stories are not told they stay hidden, locked, and unshaped.

Unexpressed feelings of loss and trauma fester inside and their weight becomes heavy with years and they block the flow of life.

Join me and two other wonderful women on the power of storytelling and writing as a vehicle for healing. Kristy Lauricella and Judy Rabinor are former guests of the podcast and they both appeared more than one time. They are both former English teachers. Judy is a psychotherapist and Kristy is a social worker. Judy is the author of The Girl in The Red Boots: Making Peace with My Mother

I truly treasured this conversation and I hope you will find value in it. We also shared some powerful wiring prompts and exercises and I hope you can take time to not only listen to the episode but also journal and reflect.

What happened to you will never change.

The facts of your life will never change but through telling and re-telling your story, through writing and sharing it, you can gain tremendous lightness, freedom and meaning.

By revisiting and revising our stories and the meaning we attach to them is how our stories become one of growth as well as hardship.

You are the author of your story, take charge, write, re-write, mend and share your story. Let it see the light that it deserves.

You have the power to change the story’s meaning at any time.

And as Hope Edelman says:

“Meaning is not something we stumble upon. It’s something we make. “
